The
Competition
Most of our
competitors are utilizing a self-neutralizing detergent allowing
them to clean your carpet in one step. It
saves them time, money, and resources, but all too often leaves
behind too much detergent residue that your carpets simply get dirtier,
quicker.
Picture this: Imagine taking a shower and
having the shampoo come out of the shower head. Unless
your able to switch the faucet back to plain water, you'll never be
able to rinse the shampoo off.
That, unfortunately, is the
method of choice for thousands of companies. This method of
cleaning gave rise to the horror story, "I wanted to wait
as long as I could before cleaning my carpets because as soon as you
clean them, they just get dirtier". That story is simply
the result of improper cleaning techniques. Another horror
story that can occur is browning. The result of poor
water extraction with a detergent residue. An
easily correctable problem, however, one that should never have occurred.
Any residue left behind will also increase the dry time.
Surfactants mixing with the water will create a molecular
cohesion hindering evaporation.
As a side
note: The IICRC approves of this method (provided that) 1)
proper solution levels are adhered to and 2) that a proper dry pass
is employed to extract 95% of all water applied. If properly
extracted, the 5% left over usually dries is 6-12 hours.
Meanwhile, any detergent residues left behind will crystallize for
removal with your vacuum. That's right, to finish the job,
your supposed to vacuum the next day to remove the crystals before
they get ground back in. When was the last time you carpet
cleaner tell you that? Probably never.
Cleaning your carpets on a
regular basis (once a year is recommended) is the only defense
against dirt. The difference in cleaning, however, (no matter what it is your cleaning - your clothes, the car, the dog, how about your hair)
is a rinse cycle to finish the process. Why not your
carpets? With that in mind, take a look at how we
clean...

The
Carpet Connoisseurs offers Two services:
Steam
Cleaning
As referred to
above.
- Pre-treat/condition with an
enzyme detergent
- Move most Furniture (some
exceptions - piano's, electronics, china hutches, etc.)
- Extract dirt and detergent
utilizing a Textile Rinse
- Dries in Two to Four Hours!
This is our most common service
performed. It is most effective for lightly soiled
(not visibly dirty) carpet simply needing a maintenance cleaning. Utilizing our
truck mounted cleaning equipment, we start by completely
pre-treating your entire area that you want cleaned. This
breaks down the dirt for extraction. As we are cleaning, we
will move most furniture you want moved, clean underneath, put it
back, and then protect it with foam blocks or plastic pads. Your carpet is left residue free because of instead of
running the detergent through the machine, we utilize a Textile
Rinse (Fiber-Rinse™) that deactivates the detergent for complete removal...thus
allowing us to GUARANTEE ABSOLUTELY NO RESIDUES LEFT BEHIND!

Deep
Detergent Cleaning
with Neutralizing Rinse
Our Premium Service We Clean Your Carpets twice!
- Pre-treat/condition with a
concentrated traffic lane cleaner
- Move most furniture (same as
above) No extra charge
- Thoroughly
clean all requested areas with an enzyme
detergent running thru the steam wand
- Re-clean all areas with a Textile
Rinse
- Dries in Two to Four hours
This is our premium service recommended
for heavily soiled (visibly dirty) carpets needing more than just a
maintenance cleaning. Candidates for this service include... 1) Carpet's not
professionally cleaned in
more than three years, 2) Carpets cleaned by other methods
(Bonnet/Dry-Chem, Dry shampoo, Host, and Rental Machines). These
methods usually leave an excessive amount of detergent residues and
visible re-soiling is now a matter of weeks, not months. 3)
Heavily spot cleaned carpets, spots seem to keep reappearing
(Soap Stains) 4) Pet odors and 5) All the above.
These scenarios require more
than a simple steam extraction. It requires what we call
"Corrective Restoration". Correcting the
damage to the fibers and bringing your carpets back to life. This service incorporates the cleaning
detergent through the wand to allow us greater solubility of any ground in soils and/or residues from previous cleanings.
We start by preconditioning your traffic lanes. We then set
the truck up to run an enzyme detergent thru the wand. The
combination of heat and concentrated detergent allows us to
completely clean and restore your carpet to the cleanliness of being new again. If we come across a stubbornly
soiled area, we are able to keep scrubbing it until all dirt is
pulled from the fibers. Once we are confident that your
carpets are as clean as possible, we completely re-clean all
areas with a Textile Rinse (Fiber Rinse™) to insure complete
extraction of all residues, returning your carpet back to a neutral
pH. balance.

"Corrective
Restoration" Pictures
Below is a great example of our "Corrective
Restoration" service. Nothing short of our
"Clean and Rinse" method would have done anything for this
carpet. To give you an idea of our expertise, this carpet
resides in a Section 8 Household with five children that seemed
to drool chewing gum. The new landlord inherited the property
from her mother and told us that new carpeting was not an
option. Knowing that we were going to rinse the detergent
after the cleaning, we were able to "Nuke" the carpet with as much detergent and spotters as necessary to insure
complete soil, grease, and gum removal.

It should be noted that this is an extreme case and that
most households that can benefit from our "clean and
rinse" service should not wait until their carpet is in this
condition.

Permanent Stain Removal
When most people talk to me about their dirty carpets, they express concern for the “stained” areas. Just to clear things up, stains are not soiled areas that have attracted dirt and therefore take on a deep grey or blackish look through time. Those areas are taken care of in our normal pre-treatment soil emulsification process. In our industry, an actual stain takes on colors from dyes added to drinks (Hawaiian punch), or ink, coffee bean, pet urine, and so on. Typically, they discolor the carpet instantly and are considered “permanently stained” as the fiber has absorbed the dye color and bonded.

Removal of most of them can be tricky as the process necessary can remove the original color of the carpet dye, dissolve or melt fibers, weaken the backing causing de lamination, and more. It’s an art and takes time to learn what works, in what combinations that are safe, and how long of an application is best for optimal results. That tedious, costly, and ongoing effort is enough to stop most companies from performing this specialty. Carpet Connoisseurs with an educated, confident, and aggressive approach, have saved customers thousands upon thousands of dollars throughout the years in replacement costs by taking the time to learn the details of permanent stain removal and utilizing what we know. Our processes can be so technologically advanced that sometimes we don’t actually even remove the stain, but alter the make-up of the molecules that contain the unwanted color, turning them permanently invisible. Got stains, bring them on! It keeps the job interesting.
